Overview

This was a 10 month project for Goldman Sachs. We established a design system for their consumer facing Private Wealth Management product. We inherited an existing product with years of design and development without any unifying system.

Role

Working closely with the engineering team I consolidated existing components, redesigned core components, and designed new components as needed. Throughout the process I worked closely with the larger design and engineering teams to validate that the design system we were building was being implemented correctly, flexible enough for all use cases, and was reducing friction through the design and development process.

Outcome

By the end of my time on the project we’d established a design system that was being used across a large product team. I’d built processes that helped prevent core parts of the design system, like icons and colors, from breaking or unintentionally changing. Overall, the design and engineering teams could focus less on the atomic details of the product and could focus more on solving user problems.
